FranklinCovey's PlanPlus 4.0 for Microsoft Outlook

FranklinCovey has announced the release of PlanPlus 4.0 for Microsoft Outlook, an upgrade to the company's planning and information management application for desktop, notebook and Tablet PC users running Microsoft Outlook.

PlanPlus 4.0 for Microsoft Outlook, which enhances Outlook by seamlessly integrating the proven planning methods from FranklinCovey within the Outlook application, has multiple new features, including a new Project Manager, a new user interface, new Palm applications and new Windows Mobile applications. The software was created in collaboration with Agilix, FranklinCovey's development partner.

The new Project Manager allows users to manage their projects with a user-friendly interface that is directly integrated with their FranklinCovey Daily Task List. Project Manager supports customizable columns to display additional information such as priority, flags, owner, category, due date and more on one screen. To simplify the reporting process, Project Manager can easily generate summary or detailed e-mail project reports. Additionally, users can delegate a task and see its progress or completion on their own list as progress changes are made by the individual to whom the task was delegated. Project Manager now supports templates and copy and paste functionality.

In addition to the Project Manager, PlanPlus 4.0 also features a new user interface. Users can view their tasks or projects, appointments, and notes or e-mail modules all on one screen. The new navigation bar along the top of the screen allows easy accessibility to contacts, notes, daily tasks, Project Manager, Weekly Planning and "Coach Me" Dynamic Help. The Task List has also been updated to support customizable columns. PlanPlus 4.0 also features a rich-text editor so users can have full customization ability as they capture important information with PowerNotes and Daily Notes.

PlanPlus for Outlook 4.0 features new handheld applications for Palm OS. In addition to standard sync functionality, palm users can now utilize the new FranklinCovey Daily Task List, Master Task List, Project Manager, Mission/Values, Compass/Roles and Goals applications on their handheld device.

Windows Mobile 5.0 users can now synchronize their handheld with PlanPlus for Microsoft Outlook to view the new FranklinCovey Daily Task List, Master Task List, Project Manager and Daily Notes applications on a handheld device or smartphone. These new applications were developed by renowned developer WebIS, and will be integrated into their award-winning Pocket Informant product. Tablet PC users will continue to have digital ink support for taking notes in their own handwriting within the PowerNotes note taking and note management module.

Traditional FranklinCovey Planning Page users will still be able to take advantage of the printing capabilities of PlanPlus for Microsoft Outlook, which provides the ability to print Outlook and PlanPlus information to four different FranklinCovey planning page sizes.

PlanPlus for Microsoft Outlook is based on the FranklinCovey Planning System, and includes tools to assist users in getting organized and focused on priorities to increase effectiveness. The software includes the Weekly Planning and Goal Planning tools taught in FranklinCovey's FOCUS: Achieving Your Highest Priorities workshop to assist users in implementing planning methods and also supports the planning portion of The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People workshop.

Users can use the "Coach Me" Dynamic Help feature, which provides examples and resources for using all of the FranklinCovey tools. Exclusive interactive "Wizards" teach users how to discover their mission and values, set and achieve goals, create balance in their professional and personal roles, and create a realistic weekly plan to achieve the highest priorities in a user's life.

FranklinCovey also offers PlanPlus for Windows XP software for customers who are not Outlook-centric, but wish to incorporate the planning system on a Windows XP computer.
