Simmetrix to Release Simulation Modeling Suite 6.0

Simmetrix has announced the release of Simulation Modeling Suite 6.0. To keep pace with the ever-expanding needs of the CAD/CAE market, Simmetrix continues to respond with new innovations included in the recently released Simulation Modeling Suite 6.0.

Simulation Modeling Suite 6.0 provides a significant advancement in simulation modeling technology with enhancements across the board to geometry access, meshing, and results management along with the release of Simmetrix' unique parallel mesh generation technology and direct geometry support for SolidWorks and NX. This release also introduces the GeomSim Advanced module for definition of simulation-related model data independent of the geometry source (i.e., capping faces and bounding boxes). When combined with Simmetrix' unique capability to create inverse volume data, this provides a significant breakthrough for utilizing mechanical assembly data for far field physics simulations.

The following highlights some of the enhanced capabilities offered by Simulation Modeling Suite 6.0:

GeomSim Enhancements:
* GeomSim Core:
- Extended to include attribute management
- Enhanced "small" feature suppression to include query and selective suppression
- Enhanced creation of simulation model
- Added the ability to save and reload a non-manifold model and its associated native/assembly models

* GeomSim Advanced module added for creation/modification of non-manifold models independent of the native model or geometry source:
- Ability to merge/split edges
- Ability to add a planar face from a list of edges (capping faces)
- Ability to add a bounding box which encloses the current model

* GeomSim Abstract:
- Enhanced connection of analysis abstract model for attribute persistence

* GeomSim CAD SolidWorks module added for direct interface to SolidWorks via SolidWorks APIs
* GeomSim CAD NX module added for direct interface to NX via NX APIs

* GeomSim Discrete:
- Enhanced import of NASTRAN data
- Enhanced specification of model topology
- Extended to work with MeshSim Adapt

MeshSim Enhancements:
* MeshSim Core:
- Added the ability to specify anisotropic target mesh sizes
- Added the ability to specify anisotropic curvature refinement
- Enhanced definition / query / modification of mesh specifications
- Extended to include export to various standard CAE formats

* MeshSim Adapt
- Extended to work with GeomSim Discrete

* MeshSim Advanced
- Enhanced boundary layer meshing to work with quad-dominant surface meshes resulting in hex-dominant boundary layer meshes
- Enhanced extrusion meshing to work with quad-dominant surface meshes resulting in hex-dominant extrusion meshes
- Enhanced transition from extrusion mesh to unstructured mesh

Parallel MeshSim Enhancements:
* Parallel MeshSim Core Released:
- Provides the ability for parallel meshing for very large problems in an MPI environment
- Integrated with MeshSim Core and GeomSim modules
- Allows for parallel mesh generation independent of assembly hierarchy, including parallel mesh generation of a single volume (i.e., flow volume, or bounding volume for electro-magnetics)

* Parallel MeshSim Adapt:
- Enhanced integration with MeshSim Core and Parallel MeshSim Core

FieldSim Enhancements:
* FieldSim Core:
- Extended support of shape functions for interpolations to include continuous Lagrange, discontinuous Lagrange and Hierarchic
- Extended support of complex Degrees of Freedom definitions
- Extended support of Field Calculation functions.
