LexisNexis and NetDocuments Release Email Management Services

LexisNexis U.S. and NetDocuments have launched a new service that will allow law firms to better manage and archive email. With the addition of email management to NetDocuments from the LexisNexis document management system, law firms now have a single place to capture, store, organize, archive, and manage emails, documents and records.

The new service includes an innovative approach to synchronizing emails from Microsoft Outlook, without requiring invasive integration software injected into the email system; and without requiring network connectivity as other document management systems do. This new paradigm for capturing emails as records in a central records management repository becomes a much simpler, user-friendly approach to email management for law firms of all sizes.

NetDocuments from LexisNexis Email Management Services encompasses three areas of focus: 1) archiving services allowing Exchange servers to immediately become "slimmed down" to relieve this common IT administrative burden and cost, 2) capturing emails as records on a ongoing basis as determined and controlled by users-thus avoiding spam and irrelevant email; and 3) providing automatic profiling and classifying of emails, e.g. client and matter for law firms, in the same way as documents, images and records are stored in the central, globally accessible repository.

Emails retain their native MSG format and the full capability of being acted upon by Outlook for forwarding, replying, etc., even though the messages are stored in NetDocuments from LexisNexis and no longer in Exchange. Email messages and attachments are full-text searchable, users can file emails in Outlook offline, and Blackberry or Treo devices are supported.

NetDocuments from LexisNexis is part of the LexisNexis Practice Management solution line, which provides services and tools proven to improve firm productivity and profitability. LexisNexis Total Practice Solutions is the company's overarching offering of solutions to help lawyers and law firms succeed in the business and practice of law.
