Mistral's 64 GB XMC/PMC Solid State Flash Disk Card

Mistral Solutions has announced the PBOD, a new Flash Disk card that delivers up to 64 Gbytes of high-speed storage from Curtiss-Wright Controls Embedded Computing. The PBOD is suited for applications in harsh environments where extreme temperature, shock or vibration makes the use of mechanical hard disk drives impractical. This new high-density Flash mezzanine card can function either as JBOD or as a RAID device via software support.

The PBOD is a small-form factor solution for those customers that require mass storage in extreme environmental conditions. In addition to providing the highest density flash storage capacity, PBOD supports data transfer rates up to 40Mbytes per second promising greater performance than competitive offerings.

The PBOD is supported natively by operating systems that support USB Flash drives. This includes VxWorks, Windows, and Linux. PBOD also supports industry standard ECC NAND Flash correction as well as wear leveling on card that eliminates premature device failure due to frequent erase cycles on the same block of Flash memory.

The PBOD is offered in air-cooled and conduction-cooled versions and is available in 8-, 16-, 24-, 32- and 64-Gbyte configurations.
