BMC Software Delivers AppSight 6.0 Solution

BMC Software has released BMC AppSight 6.0, the industry's first problem resolution solution optimized for production application challenges in Microsoft development environments.

BMC AppSight 6.0 automates and accelerates the tasks of application problem resolution-one of the most time-consuming and costly processes of application lifecycle management. BMC acquired Identify Software Ltd., the creators of AppSight, last month.

BMC AppSight 6.0 leverages patented Black Box software to record application execution and capture a synchronized, real-time log of user actions, system events, performance metrics, configuration data, and code execution flow. Operating much like the "black box" flight recorder on an aircraft, AppSight automates manual information gathering, completely eliminates problem recreation, and provably accelerates the root cause analysis process by as much as 80 percent.

With a powerful, yet easy-to-use, rules mechanism, BMC AppSight 6.0 allows users to pre-define various performance and functional application problems. Rules may be applied to Web pages, Web services, components, database queries, crashes, and more. When problems occur, BMC AppSight 6.0 alerts the application manager and records full, accurate problem data by automatically switching to a detailed recording mode. The solution combines application health monitoring with automated capture of problem instances to ensure that application problems are not only detected as soon as they occur, but also that they are resolved as quickly as possible.

BMC AppSight 6.0 also offers a robust set of new targeted root-cause analysis capabilities with pre-defined analysis perspectives to provide even novice users with the targeted information set needed to resolve the most common problem types: configuration errors, performance issues, and end-user mistakes.

BMC AppSight 6.0 supports the most recent releases of key Microsoft development technologies, including the .NET Framework 2.0 and SQL Server 2005. In addition, the solution is integrated with Microsoft Visual Studio 2005, and Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Team System.
