Hitachisoft And Pointsec Join Forces to Improve Security

Pointsec Mobile Technologies and Hitachi Software Engineering announce the formation of a new partnership. As the first step in their collaboration, HitachiSoft has obtained OEM rights from Pointsec for its flagship product, Pointsec for PC, which protects against information leakage from lost, stolen or discarded notebooks and PCs through full-disk encryption. HitachiSoft will distribute Pointsec for PC under the name "Hibun AE Full Disk Encryption" ("Hibun AE FDE") as part of its Hibun series of products.

By joining forces, HitachiSoft and Pointsec are bringing protection to enterprises around the world that are increasingly concerned about the threat of information loss through lost equipment as they continue moving toward a mobile work environment. HitachiSoft's "Hibun" product family is the best selling information protection solution in Japan, with an installed base of 2.5 million licenses at the end of 2005. Pointsec is currently the worldwide market leader for mobile data protection, with a global installed base of more than 2.5 million users and significant operations in Europe, U.S. and Asia.

HitachiSoft currently offers per disk data encryption, removable media encryption and file encryption through Hibun AE Information Cypher (Hibun AE IC). By incorporating Pointsec for PC in its product line under the name Hibun AE FDE, HitachiSoft is adding full-disk encryption to its offerings to provide its customers with the highest level of protection against the loss of confidential information from lost, stolen or discarded laptops and PCs. Hibun AE FDE will further enrich HitachiSoft's Hibun series of products to satisfy diversified customers' encryption needs.

HitachiSoft and Pointsec plan to further strengthen their partnership by exploring mutual OEM opportunities as well as the potential co-development of new products.
