Dual-Core Industrial ATX Motherboard AIMB-762 by Advantech

Advantech launches the AIMB-762, an industrial ATX motherboard built on the Intel 945G Express. To give the system an added boost, the AIMB-762 supports dual-core Intel Pentium D and Intel Pentium 4 dual-core processors and delivers system enhancements through high-bandwidth interfaces such as dual-channel DDR2 533/677 memory, PCI Express interfaces, Serial-ATA II and Hi-Speed USB 2.0 connectivity. The AIMB-762 also features a cost-effective graphics engine with outstanding graphics performance, impressive visual quality, and flexible display options.

The AIMB-762 supports the dual core Intel Pentium D processor, all other Intel Pentium 4 processors, and Intel Celeron processors in the LGA775 socket. The AIMB-762 is built on the Intel 945G Express chipset, and delivers powerful computing speeds above 3.8 GHz with a system bus up to 533/800 MHz. With up to 10.7 GB/s of bandwidth and 4 GB memory, dual DDRII 533/667 SDRAM enhances computing capability and memory performance with faster system responsiveness and support for 64-bit computing. Incorporating the latest dual-core technology, the AIMB-762 provides an immediate CPU performance scale up. Unlike single-core CPUs, dual-core processors feature two processing cores and adopt individually dedicated L2 cache of 2 MB to boost multi-tasking power. The implantation of dual-core processors gives the platform plenty of flexibility to perform multiple tasks, making for a smooth interaction with the whole system.

The AIMB-762 features excellent graphics performance with integrated graphics and an exclusive PCI-Express x16 expansion slot. The onboard integrated VGA controller along with the unique Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950 (Intel GMA 950) are equipped to share memory up to 224 MB and offer a cost-effective graphics solution with superior multimedia and 3D performance. Through the integrated Intel GMA 950 and DVO outputs, the AIMB-762 supports a dual independent display with flexible video output options, such as DVI, LVDS. When higher graphics computing abilities are needed, the AIMB-762 provides an advanced PCI Express x 16 expansion interface which delivers greater than 3.5 times the bandwidth over the traditional AGP 8X interface to support the latest high-performance graphics cards.

Incorporating the Intel ICH7R chipset, the AIMB-762 comes with rich expandability for future business growth. Several outstanding I/O expansion options are available: one PCIe x16 and one PCIe x4 interfaces, as well as five 32-bit/33 MHz PCI slots. With up to 8 GB/s concurrent, bi-directional bandwidth, the PCIe x16 interface operates as a graphics, or a general purpose I/O. The 32-bit/33 MHz PCI supports most current expansion devices. To satisfy increasing demands for data transfer speeds, the AIMB-762 provides eight Hi-Speed USB 2.0 connectivity and 4 on-board serial ATA II ports with transfer rates up to 3 Gbp/s for a wide range of peripheral devices.

In addition, the AIMB-762 delivers high bandwidth aggregation and reliable LAN performance with dual PCI-Express Gigabit Ethernet, the flagship solution for LAN connections. Each PCI Express host interfaces (PCIe x1) offers up to 3.5 times the bandwidth over traditional PCI architecture, delivering faster access to peripheral devices and networking. Dual PCI-Express Gigabit Ethernet delivers redundancy in case one LAN port fails, the alternative port takes over to avoid downtime and information loss.

Data reliability and protection are the main concerns when building enterprise systems. The AIMB-762 provides flexible storage and reliable data protection with multi software RAID support, including RAID 0, 1, 5, 10, offering reliable data protection to users without the added cost of an expensive RAID card.
