Safend Protector Gets an Upgrade

Safend announces an upgrade to its premier product suite, Safend Protector. The current solution provides access control and auditing capabilities for enterprise PCs and their connected devices. The enhanced version is now in Beta and is available for demonstration and evaluation. It will be generally available in June.

Safend Protector 3.0 offers additional security functionality including granular control over the WiFi networks PCs connect to, logging of all files accessed via removable storage, and Cisco NAC integration. The upgraded product will allow the blockage of U3 drive and autorun functionality yet will permit the use of approved storage devices. An expanded list of controlled ports, including SecureDigital, is another feature of 3.0 as well as an expanded list of device types. A "stealth mode" capability is also included in Safend Protector 3.0, allowing policy enforcement without client notification. Additional improvements include an overhaul to the Management Console and improved report and alert features, Active Directory synchronization, and immediate update capabilities.
