REACH Introduces Color TFT Smart Touch Module

REACH Technology Inc. has announced a new 4" TFT color touch display module for embedded products. Designed for medical, industrial, and gaming products with short development cycles, the module replaces traditional push buttons and character displays with a graphical touch interface.

REACH's new module enables users to access detailed menus and help screens rather than pushing navigation buttons or wading through cryptic messages to set operating parameters. The display module is controlled by a standard serial port with simple high-level commands. Soft switches, knobs, and readouts provide the ultimate in user interface flexibility.

The module is also suited for test equipment as it can fit in a standard 2U high rack-mount enclosure. The "soft" graphical interface adds flexibility, enabling designers to design an intuitive interface for test equipment that can display any combination of numeric, graphical, or text-based status. Additionally, test equipment designers can add help screens that are equivalent to user manuals.

Standard features include a wide variety of built-in fonts; standard, latching, and typematic buttons; chart and VU-meter type level bar objects; and high level macro capability. Options include "portrait" mode operation, custom fonts, and a separate SD card board for field product upgrades. The SLCD Controller drives small LCD panels by Hitachi, Kyocera, Sharp, NEC, and others used in medical, industrial, and military embedded products.
