Avanquest's VCOM MediaLock 2 Protects Sensitive Content

Avanquest Software has released VCOM MediaLock 2, an enhanced desktop security application that provides all PC users, from novice to expert, with automatic protection for their most valuable and sensitive files and folders.

MediaLock is an easy-to-use tool that enables users to store sensitive files and documents in a secure area on their local or network drive, on a removable data storage device, such as a USB flash drive, Memory Stick, media card, or even on a CD/DVD. MediaLock uses a 128-bit Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) to prevent unauthorized users from gaining access to sensitive or important files.

MediaLock provides both personal users and corporate users in a networking environment the ability to create a secure data storage area. Home users may want to keep personal tax and financial data private and secure or allow guests to use a computer, while preventing access to personal documents. Business workers are able to ensure the security of corporate details, such as salary information and financial data, and help protect valuable trade secrets and intellectual properties. For mobile workers, sensitive information can be kept on laptops without fear of information theft, and data can also be securely transported via USB drives and other removable media.

Here is a summary of MediaLock 2's features:

At Home
o Keep your personal tax and financial data private and secure.
o Protect children from adult-oriented games and other content.
o Allow guests to use your computer, while preventing them access to your personal documents.
o Create a secure backup of important files on a CD or DVD.

At Work
o Ensure the security of corporate details, such as salary information and financial data.
o Help with Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.
o Protect valuable trade secrets and intellectual properties.

On the Road
o Keep sensitive information on laptops without the fear of information theft.
o Transport data securely on USB drives and other removable media.

MediaLock is compatible with Windows 98SE/Me/NT/2000/XP/2003 and requires a Pentium 200 MHz processor or better. The software also requires a minimum of 64 MB of unused hard disk space for secure area creation (128 MB or above is recommended).
