iQstor Networks Qualifies Hitachi 500GB Disk Drive

iQstor Networks, Inc. has announced that it has qualified the Hitachi Deskstar 500GB SATA II (Serial ATA II) disk drive for use with its iQ2280 4Gb FC to SATA II Storage Platform and its J2880 4Gb FC Switched JBOD (SBOD) disk expansion enclosure.

The iQ2280 storage platform delivers a FC to the SATA II solution with the availability, manageability, data integrity and enterprise-level functionality required for storage applications like virtual tape library, disk-to-disk-to-tape, snapshot repository, remote mirroring and electronic vaulting. Housed in a 19" 3 RU rack mountable enclosure, the iQ2280 features 4 x 4 Gb/s host ports (1.6GB/s) and provides 7.5TB of storage capacity.

The modular J2880 SBOD enables IT administrators to quickly optimize and scale their storage solutions, enabling enterprises to grow their network storage from a small expansion system to very large tiered-storage SAN systems. Easily connected to RAID subsystems, each 19" 3U rack mountable J2880 scales to 7.5TB. The J2880 supports the latest 4Gb/s FC interconnect in switched dual loops, is backward compatible to 2Gb FC-AL, provides redundancy, and can be configured with either FC or SATA II disk drives.
