Psion Teklogix Launches PTX Connect Platform

Psion Teklogix has announced the launch of PTX Connect, an enterprise communication software platform enabling mobile workers to communicate in real-time.

With PTX Connect, mobile workers can communicate with co-workers in virtually any environment, using a variety of options such as walkie-talkie style Push To Talk, VoIP, and a combination of server-based voice, text and scribble messaging. Additionally, PTX Connect coupled with a 2-D imager in a mobile device allows workers to take pictures, add comments to them on screen, and transmit the final images including notations over a wireless network.

The multimedia capabilities of PTX Connect can be used in a variety of ways. For example, where mobile workers in a noisy warehouse are not able to send a voice message, or initiate a real-time Push to Talk session, they now have the option to send an image with a scribble note (a written message), hence increasing communication efficiency. Additionally, the PTX Connect voice broadcast feature also allows managers to automatically deliver voice messages to their entire team at once, a key feature for conveying emergency messages or company announcements.

This convergence of multiple communications technologies onto devices that are purpose-built for enterprise data collection applications, allows for the use of a single device for data capture, text and voice messaging purposes, and real-time voice communications. This permits the mobile enterprise to reduce operational and support costs, improve workflow efficiency and workforce communication, hence improving its bottom line.
