Mastercam X's Maintenance Release by CNC Software

CNC Software announces the release of Mastercam X's Maintenance Release (MR1). This release is available to all Maintenance customers. MR1 introduces significant new capabilities, including new high speed machining toolpaths, holder definition, the release of Mastercam X Wire, and much more.

Seven new high speed surface machining (HST) toolpaths (2 roughing and 5 finishing) have been incorporated into the MR1 release, and include a new interface for toolpath creation. These new toolpath types are tailored to high speed machining and offer a smooth cutting motion along with smooth entry/exits. The new high speed toolpaths include core roughing, area clearance, waterline, scallop, horizontal area, raster, and a newly enhanced pencil toolpath.

New Tool Holder Definition and Gouge Checking
Mastercam X gives you the option of defining a holder (or choosing one from a library) and gouge-checking the holder during toolpath generation. The holder definition can be used to detect possible toolpath gouges.

Additional MR1 Enhancements:
- Sharp corner smoothing has been added to the Surface Finish Constant Scallop parameter page (enables smoothing of the Scallop 3D Collapse cut motion).
- Toolpath Editor has been brought into Mastercam X.
- Used for containing toolpaths, the Silhouette Boundary tool allows you to define a boundary by selecting geometry.
- Mastercam X Wire is released.
- The Multi-pass Thread Mill toolpath has been expanded to support multiple rough passes, multiple finish passes, and multiple spring passes.

Also available is a Service Pack release (SP2) for those customers who are not on Maintenance.
