USB 2.0 Secure Mass Storage Token with Next Generation Encryption

SPYRUS, Inc. has announced the world's first USB 2.0 personal hardware security token that seamlessly integrates secure mass storage using Suite B cryptographic algorithms, high performance encryption and authentication services, and One Time Passwords (OTP).

The new SPYRUS Hydra Privacy Card (Hydra PC) Series II enables the same powerful Windows encryption and authentication services as the SPYRUS Rosetta security devices, and includes Suite B; Elliptic Curve Cryptography, the Advanced Encryption Standard and "SHA-2". Mass storage is provided by a removable and replaceable miniSD memory media. All data stored on this media is encrypted with Suite B algorithms, with high-performance encryption delivering data access at rates in excess of 20 MB per second. The co-resident Hydra PC authentication services mean that all data stored on the device is securely linked to the identity of its owner, which delivers strong, personal control of and accountability for all data stored on the device.

Hydra PC also has an OATH-compliant authentication application that supports current generation and next generation algorithms. These features make the compact, portable Hydra PC the ideal device to secure, store and easily transport critical data for a number of markets, including financial services, healthcare, commercial enterprise and for government applications in law enforcement, military and homeland security.

The baseline Hydra PC device fits on a keychain. It has a removable miniSD memory media to provide for memory capacity evolution over time. The device remains secure because all data on the memory media is encrypted by strong Suite B algorithms and securely linked to the user's identity.

Hydra PC provides authentication services through PKI-based digital certificate security that lets the user perform:

-- Secure computer smart card log-on
-- Email encryption
-- Digital signatures
-- Authenticated Web browsing
-- Secure One Time Password (OTP) authentication based on the OATH open standard.

The optional Hydra PC ID Verifier sleeve component provides an extra measure of security with three-factor authentication through a secure PIN entry mechanism and an optional biometric fingerprint sensor. The PIN or the biometric identifier can't be exposed to a keyboard "key logger" or a Trojan horse program, making the Hydra PC an excellent security option for home users as well.

The Hydra PC incorporates the Infineon SLE66CX642P module.

HYDRA PC devices provide a low Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) because of its multi-functional security capabilities and its support for replaceable/removable miniSD media, allowing replacement as increased memory sizes become available. Additional future proofing features that further lower the cost of ownership of the Hydra PC include integrated support for Suite B on Windows Vista using the latest Microsoft Smart Card CSP. Any licensed user can use a Hydra PC device and the SPYRUS Card Module software with either Suite B or RSA algorithms on Windows Vista Beta2.

The Hydra Privacy Card Series II provides end users with support for the strongest cryptography capable of being used on legacy Windows platforms, as well as the next generation cryptography planned for future versions of the operating systems and their corresponding applications.
