Version 2.5 of Cross Platform FileWave Software Suite

FileWave has announced the release of the latest version of its software management suite FileWave 2.5. The new features of FileWave 2.5 include, upgrading a computer from Mac OS 10.3.X Panther to Mac OS 10.4.X Tiger, automated first time network-based deployment of the FileWave Client software, management of software deployments based on hardware and software rules, remote control features through ssh, Timbuktu and VNC and support for transform files in the Patch Installer feature of the FileWave WinClient to better support MSI based installations.

In addition to these new features, FileWave has improved its cross platform compatibility with its client software running on Windows NT 4.0 through the latest release of Windows XP on Windows based PCs and Mac OS 10.2 to the latest release of Mac OS 10.4 Tiger on Apple Macintosh based computers. The multithreaded UNIX based server daemon FileWave XServer runs on the latest release of Mac OS 10.4 Tiger therefore giving FileWave the ability to deliver and manage software on Macs and PCs from a central Mac OS X based server.

Like similar Windows based solutions it allows a level of control of the deployment and the software environment down to the smallest details. Unlike Windows based solutions however, its interface is simple and friendly. Training merely takes 2 days. FileWave gives the administrator the possibility to manage Mac and Windows software environment by delivering system updates, security patches, application updates and upgrades to both types of client machines. FileWave uses an advanced delivery mechanism that makes it perfectly suited for complex multi-site network architecture, even if they mix the latest high bandwidth connexion with early implementation of WiFi on laptops and VPN connections.
