Internet Security Systems Positioned in Leader Quadrant
Internet Security Systems (ISS) announced that technology research firm, Gartner, Inc., has listed the company in the leader quadrant in its Managed Security Services Provider (MSSP) Magic Quadrant for the second half of 2005. The Gartner Magic Quadrant is a graphical portrayal of vendor performance in a market segment, including categories for leaders, challengers, visionaries and niche players. It is organized based on companies' ability to execute in a space, as well as their completeness of vision in the market.
According to the Magic Quadrant report, the managed security services market in North America was $936M in 2004, and Gartner estimates it will reach $1 billion in 2005. Gartner also mentions in the report that growth in the MSSP space is increasingly being driven by more outsourcing of basic security operations, with strong focus on firewall management and intrusion detection monitoring, and growing interest in intrusion prevention functions in the future. With intrusion prevention being its flagship technology, ISS believes it is well-positioned in the MSSP space moving forward.
ISS' Managed Security Services (MSS) offering includes managed firewall and VPN services, managed IDS/IPS, Managed Protection Services, Vulnerability Management Services and consulting. In addition to managing its own security offerings, ISS also supports and manages products from third-party vendors including Check Point, Cisco and Juniper for firewalls and 3Com and McAfee for intrusion prevention, maximizing the value of customers' existing investments.
Also key to ISS' strong managed services offering is the MSS Customer Portal, which provides customers with a complete, real-time view of their security status 24/7/365. The MSS Customer Portal also seamlessly integrates the unique intelligence of ISS' X-Force research and development team, providing customers with expert advice on how to prioritize and alleviate security risks.
Managed Security Services complement ISS' Proventia product line, a multi-layered security solution that provides comprehensive protection from network- and host-based attacks before they impact business assets. For additional information on ISS Managed Security Services, please go to:
