Faithful+Gould successfully delivered workplace fit out and asset enhancement works to Manulife Tower in Singapore

18 April 2019

Faithful+Gould, a member of the SNC-Lavalin Group, successfully project managed a multi-faceted base building upgrade and office fit out for Manulife Singapore, a leading global financial services group with over 600 employees and 1, 000 agents locally. Delivered by an integrated team comprising project managers and sustainability consultants, the project was among one of the largest Corporate Real Estate projects that Faithful+Gould has carried out in Singapore.

Kenny Ng, Associate Director for Project Management at Faithful+Gould’s Southeast Asia business, said: “We are very proud to have played our part in successfully delivering Manulife Singapore’s most significant project in the past five years. It is yet another excellent example of how our integrated services can create overall value for our clients.”

The 28-storey Manulife Tower, previously known as the PWC building, occupies a prime location in the Central Business District of Singapore. Manulife, through its real estate business arm, acquired the property in 2017 and embarked on a programme to refresh and rebrand the property and improve the building’s operational efficiency with the ultimate aim of increasing its market value and rental yield. In line with the business’ expansion plan, the tower was also identified as the new headquarters and main Customer Service Centre for Manulife Singapore. In the design for their new office, the Activity Based Working concept was adopted to increase collaboration and to inspire creativity and innovation in the business. As a new property under Manulife’s real estate portfolio and as its main headquarters in Singapore, achieving Green Mark accreditation for the office fit out and the building upgrades were mandatory requirements set out by Manulife.

The key achievement of Faithful+Gould’s integrated team includes:
• Ensuring Zero down time during the extensive upgrade works for the building common facilities and the chiller plant replacement of the multi-tenanted 28-storey tower.
• Managing the delivery of the new Manulife Singapore offices in the building, on time and within budget.
• Seamless execution of the Move Management for the Manulife Singapore team of more than 600 employees and 400 agents, with no interruption to their business operation.
• Application for Green Mark for the existing building accreditation and new Green Mark Healthier Workplaces for the office. The increased efficiency in air-conditioning system provides Manulife substantial yearly operating cost savings. The office accreditation puts the wellbeing of occupants at the heart of the Manulife office.
• Implementing a significant rebranding of the building through close coordination with the Manulife branding team.
