The 460m supertall Landmark 81 in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, designed by Atkins, a member of the SNC-Lavalin Group, has won “World’s Best Architecture” at the International Property Awards 2017 held in London. It also picked up “Best International Residential High-rise Architecture” and “Best Residential High-rise Architecture Asia Pacific”. SNC-Lavalin acquired WS Atkins plc on July 3, 2017.

The International Property Awards celebrate the highest levels of achievement by companies operating in all sectors of the property and real estate industry and an award is a world-renowned mark of excellence.

Madam Duong Mai Hoa, managing director of Vingroup, the developer, said: “Landmark 81 is an exciting and exceptional project in our portfolio. Partnering with Atkins, we are realising our vision to create outstanding city landmarks for a modern and integrated Vietnam.”

Ian Milne, Atkins’ design director for the Landmark 81, said: “As Asia’s urbanisation rapidly continues and the urban population emerges, Landmark 81 is a great example to demonstrate the potential for high-rise living. Creating high-quality and convenient vertical living space on limited footprint can be the sustainable and attractive solutions for the region.”

Mai Quang Tri, Atkins’ chief representative in Vietnam, added: “The project is a celebration of the strategic partnership that Vingroup and Atkins entered in 2015, highlighting the collaborative approach we’ve taken to meet our client’s vision. We look forward to developing our relationship with Vingroup to create further iconic landmarks and setting international standards in Vietnam. This partnership reinforces the long term strategic engagement of Atkins in the urban infrastructure development of Vietnam.”

Landmark 81, within the Vinhomes Central Park urban area, will be the tallest building in Vietnam, adding a new iconic beacon to Ho Chi Minh City’s ever-growing skyline. It is currently under construction and expected to complete in 2019.
