Pöyry has signed the Tallinn e-energy declaration with the aim of digitising the energy market further

PRESS RELEASE 28 Sep 2017

Pöyry together with all of the 28 Member States of the European Union, Norway and 13 energy specialised associations and companies have signed the Tallinn e-energy declaration. The declaration is the first comprehensive agreement of goodwill in the world that unites the development of energy and information technology. It encourages cooperation between the European Union Member States and the private sector with the aim of developing a broad-based strategy for the digitisation of energy. Pöyry is well positioned to support the declaration and industry stakeholders with the company’s extensive and growing digital solutions offering.

The declaration was presented during the Government of Estonia’s high-level conference on electricity market design on 19 September 2017. Pöyry’s Stephen Woodhouse moderated the discussion between policymakers and key stakeholders during the event, and made a short summary at the end of the day.

As well as highlighting digital solutions in the energy sector, the discussion focused on the integration of renewables to the market, the functioning of the wholesale market and security of supply aspects. In addition, Commissioner Miguel Arias Cañete presented his news on the progress made on the Clean Energy Package electricity market proposal and the necessary steps ahead.

The discussions provided a valuable input for the Energy ministers’ meeting the following day, for the negotiations throughout the Estonian Presidency of the EU Council and beyond.
