CIMIC's CPB Contractors wins $145m prison upgrade Sydney 22.09.2017 CIMIC Group company, CPB Contractors, has been selected by Queensland Corrective Services to deliver significant facility upgrades at the Capricornia Correctional Centre. The design and construct contract will generate revenue to CPB Contractors of approximately $145 million. Construction is expected to commence in early 2018 and conclude in 2020. CIMIC Group Chief Executive Officer Adolfo Valderas said: “Australia’s construction project pipeline remains strong and continues to present CIMIC Group and CPB Contractors with opportunities to utilise our diverse capabilities and major project experience. “Our extensive track record of correctional facilities work is built on a disciplined and cost-effective approach, working collaboratively with our clients to complete challenging building programs in live, secure environments, without disrupting real-time facility operations.” CPB Contractors Managing Director Juan Santamaria said: “We will continue to work with Queensland Corrective Services and the Queensland Government to achieve value for money outcomes for this project. “Our team is committed to developing increased local job and work opportunities for Queensland’s Capricorn Coast residents and businesses as a priority, and to ensure that all project objectives are achieved.” CPB Contractors will deliver new and upgraded facilities at the Capricornia Correctional Centre to support an increase in capacity and ongoing prison services, including a minimum of 164 additional residential cells in new buildings, 100 bunks in secure cells, a new residential officers station, and a site-wide electronic security upgrade. Located 20km north of Rockhampton in Queensland, Capricornia Correctional Centre provides facilities for remand, reception and sentenced high and low security prisoners, and offers inmates a wide range of vocational education and training programs. |
