22nd WFBSC World Congress takes place in Berlin, Germany

Things are getting serious regarding the future: only two months remain now before the World Congress of Building Services Contractors opens its doors on 18 September 2017! Early Bird discount ends on July 27, 2017! Please register online today.

Indeed, the future itself will be at the focus of the summit, which will be asking, ‘How will digitalization affect our sector?’ Though it is still hard to tell just how the countless impressive developments to come will affect our lives and enterprises, one thing is certain: no other trend is likely to influence life as lastingly and substantially as this one in the foreseeable future.

The greatest challenges therein lie in the processes of adapting our companies and how we organize work toward a more digitized mode of operation – in the requirements for data security and protection, as well as in the shortage of IT competence within our own companies, or simply perhaps the scarcity of IT specialists.

The World Congress of Building Services Contractors (from 18 September to 20 September, together with the CMS17 in Berlin) is – under the leadership of the German Federal Guild Association of the Cleaning Trade – going a few steps further to find solutions to the challenges posed.

To ensure that participants are fully prepared for the impact of the coming developments, numerous well-known experts have been selected as speakers at the WFBSC World Congress. Whether regarding our readiness to adapt or the new world of data, the impact on social security systems and the world of work or building automation, no aspect relevant to building services providers will be left unturned! No company that wants to equip itself for the future and the influence of digitalization ought to miss this unique opportunity to acquire first-hand expertise.

‘Cleaning in a Digital World’ and its effects upon processes, people and technology will be at the forefront of a wide range of discussions. Together with specialists from different countries, we will find answers to questions such as which aspects of entrepreneurial activities are affected by digitization and how cooperation with customers will be shaped in the future. Our aim is to promote the exchange of ideas, profit from our shared experiences and learn from one another.

The selected topics and contributions have been chosen with the goal of making the notion of digitalisation more tangible within the building service sector. The keynote speakers aim to empower participants to sharpen their viewpoints and ask the right questions – to engage in new ways of thinking, to question what once were proven processes and reshape functioning structures successfully. As these measures undoubtedly require a good deal of courage, Anja Förster will be providing guidance in Leadership Culture for a New Time toward daring to adopt new ways of thinking and acting in management. All of these contributions will equip us to become pioneers within our own sector and forerunners with regard to the digitalization of services.

Subsequently, Daniel Domscheit-Berg will be outlining the risks and opportunities presented by digital networking. The computer sciences graduate with a focus on IT security built the whistle-blowing platform WikiLeaks from 2007 to 2010 and is now committed to the protection of private data on the Internet and the decentralization of the network infrastructure.

Finally, Dr. Willms Buhse will present possible strategies and various models of success for the cleaning industry in the digital age. As advisor to Chancellor Angela Merkel and various German DAX companies, he understands like no other how to transfer ideas and impulses from the digital world into the realities of companies.

The many opportunities to exchange ideas with colleagues from across the globe and the enjoyment of social aspects integral to this worldwide sector summit provide just yet another reason not to miss the World Congress in Berlin. And on another side note: Berlin is one of the most exciting and interesting metropolises in the world. With a population of 3.5 million people and more than 150 embassies, the capital of Germany is a global center of culture, science, media and politics. The city offers an excellent selection of cultural and culinary opportunities. With Europe's largest museum complex (UNESCO World Heritage Site) and its more than 50 theaters, three opera houses and extensive shopping, Berlin is the perfect city for combining business with holiday. In addition, golden autumn with temperatures up to 20° C is an absolutely perfect time to explore this vibrant city.
