Successful at the European Football Championship 2012 with formwork and scaffolding Football stadiums European Football Championship 2012, Poland /Ukraine Poland and the Ukraine will host the 14th UEFA European Football Championship 2012. Wroclaw, Gdansk, Poznan and Warsaw are the four Polish venues, Kharkiv, Donetsk, Kiev and Lviv the four Ukrainian venues. Seven of the eight football stadiums with seat capacities of between 35, 000 and 70, 000 were built or enlarged with PERI formwork and scaffolding systems. Between the opening match on 8 June in Warsaw and the final on 1 July in Kiev will be 29 exciting matches. The Warsaw National Stadium for example offers almost 60, 000 seats as well as two parking levels for 1, 800 cars which are arranged underneath the pitch. Construction work started in 2009 to be ready in time to host five matches of the European Football Championship. The complex construction project with highest quality requirements asked for an experienced construction site team as well as the close and trustful cooperation of everyone involved. In order to adhere to the tight construction schedule, a large quantity of system material had to be supplied to the construction site within short time – provided by the Polish PERI rental park, optimally adjusted to the construction sequence in time. In addition to this, apart from the formwork and scaffolding systems that can be used efficiently and for many different purposes, the ongoing planning and support by PERI engineers during the construction time helped the construction progress to move smoothly. The TRIO and DOMINO panel formwork systems were used for the foundations and the walls and allowed for fast forming times. The MULTIFLEX slab formwork in connection with PEP and MULTIPROP steel or aluminium slab props served as the load-bearing basis for the manufacture of solid and hollow core slabs as well as for the assembly of the prefabricated slabs. The column formwork systems QUATTRO and VARIO GT 24 were combined to form the reinforced concrete columns – for enhanced fairfaced concrete requirements already pre-assembled by PERI formwork assembly and thus ready to use. The comprehensive PERI concept was supplemented by the PERI UP scaffolding system, which served many different purposes as access, working platform and load-bearing system.
