Skanska invests in rental apartments in Barkarbystaden, Sweden

Skanska is investing about SEK 580 million in the multifamily project Parkkvarteret with 220 rental apartments in Barkarbystaden, Järfälla, Sweden. The project is developed by Skanska Rental Housing and the construction contract is worth approximately SEK 370 million, which is included in the order bookings for Skanska Sweden for the fourth quarter 2020.

The project is located next to the new Veddesta bridge with direct connection to the commuter train station, future metro station and service as well as park environments. Here, Skanska develops and builds an apartment building with 220 apartments in varying sizes of 1-5 rooms and kitchens. The apartment block includes a garage and commercial premises on the ground floor that provide living ground floors and a range of services for residents and visitors.

The block is being built in accordance with Skanska's own sustainability label which is called "Skanska Hållbar Hyresbostad" meaning high sustainability requirements. The construction uses, for example, climate-compensated concrete such as Skanska green concrete, which gives up to 50 percent lower climate impact than traditional concrete. In addition, the roofs are equipped with solar cells that supply the building with property electricity.

Construction work start in the first quarter of this year and the houses will be ready for occupancy in 2023.
