Skanska builds city bypass outside Karvina, Czech Republic

Skanska has signed a contract with The Road and Motorway Directorate of the Czech Republic for a new bypass outside the city Karvina, Czech Republic. The contract is worth CZK 900 M, about SEK 370 M, which will be included in the order bookings for Europe for the second quarter 2020.

The project comprises three kilometres of new road that will serve as a south-western bypass of Karvina, a city at the east border with Poland. It will relieve the city and its inhabitants of transport heading to Poland and back. The project also includes an iron-concrete bridge, an underpass for pedestrians and a kilometre of a noise barrier. Construction will start in April 2020 with expected completion in June 2023.
