European Coatings Show Conference: International expert dialogue on coating trends

The European Coatings Show Conference is the leading dialogue platform for experts in the international coatings community. On 18 and 19 March 2019, it will bring prominent specialists from around the world together at the Exhibition Centre Nuremberg, and will partly overlap with the European Coatings Show, the leading international trade show in this sector, which begins on 19 March.

In 24 sessions and a total of 144 presentations the European Coatings Show Conference will offer an insight into the latest research results from scientific institutes and universities and information on changes in the market for raw materials, and will also provide an ideal opportunity to network with the recognised heavyweights in the sector.

Expertise for the entire process chain of coating production
It thus maps the entire process chain for the manufacture of paints and coatings from a scientific perspective, and is the perfect complement to the trade show. Participants in the European Coatings Show Conference 2019 can select sessions on the following topics:

• Science today – coatings tomorrow
• Pigments
• Powder coatings
• Water-borne coatings
• Roof and faηade paints
• Printing inks
• Dispersing technology
• Wood coatings
• Foulprotect
• 2K industrial coatings
• Microbial protection
• Radiation curing
• Adhesives & sealants
• Construction chemicals (I/II)
• Polyurethanes (I/II)
• Protective coatings (I/II)
• Testing and measuring (I/II)
• Architectural coatings
• Epoxy coatings
• TiO2 & opacification

Opening ceremony with keynote and award presentation in the plenary session
The European Coatings Show Conference will kick off with the plenary session, including a keynote presentation by Professor Markus Antonietti, Managing Director at the Max Planck Institute for Colloids and Interfaces. He will discuss the latest approaches and processes for the manufacture of monomers, solvents, plasticisers and hardenable oligomer systems from wood-like waste products. He will look at aspects including consideration of life cycle from the perspective of sustainability, and will explain low-cost methods of extending the by-products bioethanol, lignin and sugar for the needs of the coatings industry. The plenary session will also include the presentation of the European Coatings Award for the best submission to the conference.

Invitation to network at the After Work Reception
Following an intensive first day at the European Coatings Show Conference, the After Work Reception will provide further opportunities for personal dialogue. Participants can mix with the speakers in a relaxed atmosphere and expand their network to include other experts from the coatings industry.

Best prepared thanks to pre-conference tutorials
Ten pre-conference tutorials will take place on 17 March, before the European Coatings Show Conference begins. These optional courses will provide basic knowledge on the formulation of different paints and coatings, and will offer an initial insight into trends like functionality and environmental protection.
