Aecom awarded five-year project in Peru

Aecom, a premier, fully integrated global infrastructure firm, announced that it has been awarded the Amazon Promotion of Best Social and Environmental Management Practices project from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) South America Regional office in Peru. The five-year contract award is worth up to US$23.5 million.

Aecom's work will focus specifically on the following sectors: hydropower, oil and gas, mining and roads. The company plans to engage both private and public sectors and other key stakeholders to adopt best management practices that conserve biodiversity and prevent deforestation in a region containing the largest remaining tropical forest and river system in the world.

Along with its partner, The Nature Conservancy, Aecom will work with key government stakeholders and vulnerable indigenous and local populations to reduce the negative impacts of infrastructure and extractive activities that currently affect the livelihoods of communities in this region.
