Energy efficiency in the world's largest construction market

Energy shortages and the Chinese government's ambitious climate targets make energy efficiency and sustainable development hotly debated topics in the local construction industry. Innovations and solutions from the new exhibition sectors Energy Efficient & Smart Solutions/BIM and Prefabrication Materials & Green Building will be the paramount topics at Fenestration Bau China. The central starting point for visitors will be the "Future Building" Hall E2.

The construction industry in China is booming: Over the past ten years, about a third of the world's total building area was built in the People's Republic. In 2017, there were investments of around three trillion US dollars. This trend is expected to continue in view of numerous government initiatives to promote the construction industry.

However, China is also facing the challenges of increasing energy shortages. In order to counter these, a downright energy efficiency revolution has been initiated by the Chinese government. Ambitious development plans, such as the 13th five-year plan or laws on building energy standards are supported by the industry as well as the population. Moreover, urbanization is rapidly progressing. In view of the growth rates of Chinese cities, the Chinese green building market is showing great potential. According to AHK China's target market analysis, the Middle Kingdom is already the country with the largest green building-certifiedarea in the world—and this trend is still increasing. Demand for solutions and high-quality products is high—a favorable starting position for international companies in the construction industry to gain a foothold in China.

The future of construction in China: Smart, simple, healthy, safe, energy-efficient
By integrating new segments and establishing the "Future Building Networking Hot Spot—Made in Germany", Fenestration Bau China is responding to these developments. The exhibition area Energy-Efficient & Smart-Solutions/BIM offers exhibitors space for presenting their ideas and solutions around energy efficiency. From materials and products for new buildings to the energy-efficient modernization of existing buildings, visitors get a comprehensive insight into the subject-matter. Construction itself is to become faster, more efficient and consequently more sustainable. The use of prefabricated elements helps to speed up this process. The segment Prefabrication Materials & Green Building will offer examples and comprehensive information.

The new Future Building Forums will serve to connect: During the lectures and discussion forums of "Prefabrication Materials and Green Building made in Germany", experts will provide ideas, food for thought and technical know-how for sustainable building from Germany. Centerpiece of the forum "Smart Building made in Germany" will be a hotel room—access with virtual reality glasses. "Smart, simple, healthy, safe, energy-efficient"—keywords that illustrate how the hotel room will take up the topic. Architects, planners and investors will get an overview of (facade) control, energy efficiency, convenience and health. The two exhibition areas and forums will be located in Hall E2, the Future Building Hall. National and international companies such as BIMobject, dormakaba, Fraunhofer, JUNG, Schüco and Trimble will present selected smart and innovative products.

Fenestration Bau China takes place from October 31 to November 3, 2018 in Beijing.

Fenestration Bau China (FBC) is the leading platform for 'Building Systems Solutions, High-End Technologies and Materials' in the Asia-Pacific region. The trade fair emerged from Fenestration China, in which Messe München acquired a majority stake—the largest investment in the company's history to date. In 2017, the event was held under its new name for the first time. Exhibitors present offerings from the areas of building materials, construction IT, facades, windows, building automation, building technologies and doors. In 2018, the exhibition sectors Prefabrication Materials & Green Building, Building Chemistry, Construction Tools and Energy Efficient & Smart Solutions/BIM will be added. The established BAU Congress China was integrated into FBC. Last year's successful premiere saw 625 national and international exhibitors present themselves to around 95,000 visitors on 48,500 square meters. The next exhibition will take place from October 31 to November 3, 2018.
