CIMIC's CPB Contractors wins prison upgrade

CIMIC Group company, CPB Contractors, has been selected by Queensland Corrective Services to deliver significant facility upgrades at the Capricornia Correctional Centre.

The design and construct contract will generate revenue to CPB Contractors of approximately $145 million. Construction is expected to commence in early 2018 and conclude in 2020.

CPB Contractors will deliver new and upgraded facilities at the Capricornia Correctional Centre to support an increase in capacity and ongoing prison services, including a minimum of 164 additional residential cells in new buildings, 100 bunks in secure cells, a new residential officers station, and a site-wide electronic security upgrade.

Located 20km north of Rockhampton in Queensland, Capricornia Correctional Centre provides facilities for remand, reception and sentenced high and low security prisoners, and offers inmates a wide range of vocational education and training programs.
