Xylem is launching several new energy efficient system solutions

Xylem is launching several new energy efficient system solutions for residential and commercial building applications at Europe's leading exhibition for global comfort technology – Mostra Convegno Expocomfort 2016, 15-18 March 2016 in Milan, Italy. Highlights include the Next Generation Hydrovar, an advanced variable speed drive (VSD), and the new Lowara brand "Smart Pump" range, equipped with a highly compatible motor and integrated VSD that can be coupled with nearly every Lowara pump. All Xylem products on display at MCE 2016 are compliant with – or exceed – the latest EU efficiency regulations.

Peter Agneborn, Global Business Unit Director, HVAC & Commercial Building Services, Xylem, commented: "European legislation and market demand for innovative, reliable and versatile products, are driving the industry toward comprehensive solutions that reduce energy consumption. Xylem is not only ready to address these needs; we are leading the way through ingenious design, continuous updates, and educational offerings for our employees and stakeholders."

The 40th occurrence of MCE will serve as a global stage for 10 product introductions from Xylem.

• Xylem HVL – Next Generation HYDROVAR – Introduced in 1995, the HYDROVAR variable speed drive (VSD) has been updated, continuing its legacy as the industry's choice for optimizing fixed speed pump efficiency. Capable of running systems with up to eight pumps, the HYDROVAR has multimaster functionality, enabling each individual pump to take control if one or more units or sensors are not active. This continuous booster system operation ensures reliable water pressure across many residential and commercial applications.

Beyond VSD status, the Next Generation HYDROVAR is an intelligent control system that accurately adapts to system demands, helping end-users realize cost and energy savings while achieving optimum system performance. A new drive and motor control makes the HYDROVAR more efficient than ever. It's also easier to install and operate, and has expanded features, such as: BACnet compatibility for seamless building management system integration, and a THDi filter that extends equipment life by improving the quality of energy coming from the grid. It's available with optional Wi-Fi capability for remote connection to the unit via any mobile device, laptop or PC.

• Lowara "Smart Pump" range – A complete, single phase pump range fitted with the latest high efficiency permanent magnet motor technology for residential, commercial and OEM market applications. Pre-programmed packages decrease installation and commissioning costs, resulting in significantly reduced life cycle costs. A smart, easy-to-set integrated drive can operate in a sensored or sensorless mode (depending on the model of the pump) in single, twin or multi-pump systems of up to three pumps, with no need for an external control panel or a PLC. The drive also includes BACnet or Modbus and Wi-Fi as an option.

• Lowara e-GS borehole pumps – The highly efficient Lowara e-GS borehole pump range features optimized hydraulics and Minimum Efficiency Index (MEI) values exceeding ErP requirements. Specifically designed for use in 4-inch wells, the new e-GS has an innovative 'floating stack' hydraulic design that allows sand and abrasives to pass easily, reducing life cycle costs and delivering excellent sand-handling capability.

• Lowara ecocirc XL and XLplus – High efficiency large wet rotor circulators provide state-of-the-art technology in hydraulics, motors and intelligent controls and are designed with simplicity and efficiency in mind. Lowara has now extended the range, adding several new models, including: ecocirc XL and ecocirc XLplus 25-32 / 40-60; a 100W version that addresses the full spectrum of light commercial applications; ecocirc XL and ecocirc XLplus D 32-80 and 32-100 twin-head models in both flanged and threaded versions for greater application flexibility; and the ecocirc XL and ecocirc XLplus with 15 and 18 meters maximum head for a wider range of performance coverage. Bronze models for domestic hot water applications in pump body are now also available in stainless steel for improved efficiencies. These expansions make the ecocirc XL and XLplus one of the broadest circulator ranges available today.

• Lowara ResiBoost – A new, variable frequency drive that keeps system pressure constant by controlling the speed of the pump depending on system demand. ResiBoost is very easy to setup and operate: after installation and once set the desired pressure, the unit is ready for use. ResiBoost automatically restores system in case of power outages and also offers a LCD display that clearly displays faults and information about operation, such as number of run hours and number of starts. ResiBoost is an ideal, cost effective option for controlling a variety of Lowara pumps in residential applications.

• Lowara Sekamatik – The Lowara Sekamatik series is a comprehensive range of wastewater lifting stations for the collection and pressurization of rain/clean/gray water and sewage for residential and commercial building applications. The product displayed during MCE will be part of the 10E series, addressing compact residential applications with a small footprint. The Sekamatik 10E7M is a gray water and sewage lifting station for disposal of up to three sanitary units. It's equipped with a macerator that reduces waste to a slurry, enabling installations with small dimension delivery pipes and reducing installation time and costs. Installation behind the toilet is simple with minimum space requirements.

Products will be displayed in six different thematic islands: Water Supply; HVAC – Commercial and Residential In-line; Commercial Building Services; Variable Speed Drives; Submersible Solutions; and Pressure Boosting.

Xylem will also be presenting the new Xylem Learning Center (XLC), located in Montecchio Maggiore, Italy. The new training center features interactive, working demonstration units of pumping equipment and controls, and a leading-edge classroom for attendees to install and troubleshoot numerous products and accessories.

The rooms are also supplied with state-of-the-art audio/visual equipment and can hold up to 70 participants. The XLC offers classes covering a variety of applications, including Food and Beverage, HVAC, Water Systems, Drives, Wastewater, and Residential/Commercial/Industrial Applications.
