Ferrovial awarded another section of the S7 Expressway in Poland

Budimex, Ferrovial Agroman's Polish subsidiary, has been chosen by Poland's Roads Authority to build a new 19-km section of the S7 Expressway, between Nowy Dwór Gdański and Kazimierzowo, in northern Poland. The project has a budget of 1.3 billion zlotys (over 307 million euro), and must be completed within three years of contract signature.

The contract includes building the road, comprising two lanes in each direction with space for a third lane, together with on- and off-ramps, frontage roads, pedestrian overpasses, bicycle lanes, bus stops and rest areas. Budimex will also build two intersections at Żuławy Wschód and Elbląg Zachód, 10 bridges and two overpasses over the S7, and one bridge and 10 overpasses on adjoining roads. The project also includes resurfacing the Nowy Dwór Gdański bypass.

In June 2015, Ferrovial's Polish subsidiary was awarded a 9.7 kilometre section of the S7 in Ostroda, including a bypass around the city, for 259 million euro. Once completed, the S7 will cross Poland from north to south through the centre of the country, connecting the cities of Gdansk, Warsaw, Kielce and Krakow.

This new contract is in addition to several road projects awarded to Budimex in recent weeks, including two sections of the S6 (Ploty-Kielpino and Goleniow-Nowogaid) for over 114 million euro, two segments of the S17 (Garwolin-Gonczyce and from Gonczyce to the Lublin-Warsaw provincial border) for 116.5 million euro and the Kepno bypass, on the S11, for 12 million euro.
