Kentz awarded mechanical and piping contract by Sasol

Kentz, a member of the SNC-Lavalin Group, has been awarded the mechanical and piping (M&P) contract by Sasol's Group Technology on Work Pack 3 of Phase Two of the Fischer-Tropsch Wax Expansion Project (FTWEP) in Sasolburg, South Africa. The value of the contract is circa C$30 million.

The contract will be executed by the construction service line, which will be responsible for the fabrication, installation, testing and handover of mechanical and piping construction scope of the FT Synthesis (Unit 2600), located within the existing premises of the Sasol One Site. Kentz will provide all mechanical and piping construction services associated with the installation of 16 vessels and exchangers, 12 pumps, compressor package, carbon and stainless steel piping, as well as carbon and stainless steel welding and steam tracing.

Carl Dyer, Regional Senior Executive, Sub-Saharan Africa commented: "We are delighted with this recent contract award on the Fischer-Tropsch Wax Expansion Project. Kentz has been safely operating on this project for 5 years, and we look forward to continuing our involvement through Phase Two. We have been working with Sasol for over 30 years, and are very pleased to continue our long standing relationship."

This investment will see Sasol expand its hard wax production. Hard wax is used by several major industries and applications include adhesives, printing ink, coatings and asphalt applications.

SNC-Lavalin, Canada's largest engineering and construction company, acquired Kentz, one of the world's top oil and gas service providers, in August 2014, transforming SNC-Lavalin's capabilities in the sector and creating a group of approximately 20,000 high-caliber employees with end-to-end expertise for large and complex projects.
