Bilfinger to manage 125 hydroelectric power plants in Sweden

In Sweden, the engineering and services group Bilfinger will in future be responsible for the maintenance of Finnish utility Fortum's entire portfolio of hydroelectric power plants. The new framework agreement covers technical management of 125 power plants with more than 250 dams. The agreement also calls for the transfer of 200 Fortum employees to Bilfinger. The parties have agreed to keep the volume of the service agreement confidential. The contract will run over a term of three years with an option to extend it by an initial two years.

Bilfinger is the market leader in industrial services in Scandinavia. With an output volume of more than €900 million, the region is the Group's most important international market. The company provides engineering and services for plants in the petrochemical industry, the pulp and paper industry and the metalworking industry as well as in the energy and oil and gas sectors. The Group counts companies like Akzo Nobel, Borealis, Norsk Hydro, SCA, Statoil, Vattenfall and Yara among its most important clients.
