Spain's Ferrovial to manage Ourense University Hospital Complex

Through subsidiary Ferrovial Services, Ferrovial has been chosen to deliver a range of non-medical services at the Ourense University Hospital Complex in Galicia. The company will provide energy, maintenance, cleaning and security services at the three hospitals for 15 years. The contract is worth 146 million euro.

Ferrovial Services has been selected by the Galicia Regional Government Health Service to deliver a range of non-medical services at the Ourense University Hospital Complex (CHUO). The 15-year contract, worth 146 million euro, encompasses energy supply, maintenance, cleaning and security services for the Nosa Señora do Cristal, Santa María Nai and Santo Cristo de Piñor hospitals. The complex has an extension of 119,566 squared metres and 852 beds. Around 3,000 people work in it.

In the area of energy efficiency, the company will upgrade the facilities to optimise performance, at no cost to the Administration. Primary energy consumption will be reduced by over 15%, while CO2 emissions will be reduced by more than 53%. Ferrovial Services will also implement quality indicators for the services and supplies and will report regularly on attainment of the targets.

Ferrovial Services is a key player in the field of energy efficiency, as evidenced by the agreement with the City of Bilbao to manage sports facilities under Bilbao Kirolak, where it has cut energy costs by 25% while reducing gas consumption by 38% and electricity consumption by 15%. Ferrovial also has a cooperation agreement with MIT to develop projects aimed at improving energy efficiency in buildings and public lighting systems.
