Fisia Babcock Environment awarded contract in China

Italian builder Impregilo announces that the subsidiary Fisia Babcock Environment (FBE) which operates in the environmental plant design sector, has secured the order for the supply of the core technical equipment of the incineration process for two new waste to energy units in the Anhui Province of the People's Republic of China.

The project originates from the Municipality of Hefei's need to solve the emergency caused by the rapid growth of municipal solid waste within the city. Hence, the Hefei Thermo Electric Group had already taken the decision to opt for modern thermal waste treatment technology. In 2011, after a competitive tendering process, Fisia Babcock Environment was selected subcontractor for the design of the process and supply of the advanced technological components of units 1 and 2 of the waste-to-energy facility, each with a capacity of 500 tons per day.

In 2013, it was decided to go ahead by doubling the plant (2 new units each with 500 tons per day capacity). Based on its outstanding technical competence and performance during Phase 1, FBE and its partner Zhejiang Feida Environmental Science & Technology Co. Ltd. again succeeded in winning the contract despite strong competition which was signed at the beginning of November this year.

FBE is responsible for the grate units with auxiliary equipment, selected key components for the flue gas cleaning and the design work for the steam generator. The total execution period for this project will be 2.5 years, whereas the shipment for FBE's import equipment has to be finished within 12 months. The technology as well as the scope of supplies and services is similar to the Phase 1. The contract value for FBE is around 5.5 million Euro.
