Kone wins an order in the heart of Shanghai's commercial district

Finnish lift and escalator maker Kone has won an order for 108 elevators and 57 escalators at Dazhongli, a mixed-use development on Shanghai's flourishing commercial street, West Nanjing Road. Located close to an existing and two planned metro lines, Dazhongli is expected to become a landmark business, leisure and entertainment venue in China's most populous city.

Covering a land area of some 63,000 square meters, Dazhongli will comprise two office buildings, a high quality shopping mall and three luxury hotels, with a gross floor area of 323,000 square meters. The taller office tower at Dazhongli will be Kone's tallest reference in Shanghai Puxi, the city's historic cultural, residential and commercial center.

The Dazhongli project is expected to be completed in phases from 2016 onwards. The investors and developers are HKR International Limited and Swire Properties Limited, each with a 50-percent stake, while the consultants for the project are WOY(architect), AECOM (structural consultant), and PBA (electrical consultant). The main contractor is Shanghai Construction Group.
