Leighton to build a luxury integrated hotel resort in Macau

Leighton Asia, India and Offshore Group (LAIO), announced it has secured a A$2.8 billion contract to design and build a luxury, integrated, hotel resort in Macau, the world's biggest gaming hub, for Wynn Resorts. Leighton Contractors (Asia) Limited (a part of LAIO), which was selected in November 2012 as preferred contractor, has now finalised the full agreement with Wynn Resorts.

The hotel and casino resort occupies a site on the reclaimed land between the Macau islands of Taipa and Coloane known as the Cotai Strip. The project includes the construction of a luxury hotel and a mixed-use podium comprising gaming, dining, retail and convention facilities and numerous specialist attractions. The resort site covers a construction floor area of more than 450,000 square metres. Site preparation and piling works are already well advanced. The project is expected to be complete by early 2016.
