Balfour Beatty JV enters Australian water renewals sector

British infrastructure firm Balfour Beatty announces today that Balfour Beatty Leed joint venture (JV) has been awarded a place on a major water networks framework by Australia's largest water utility provider, Sydney Water.

This marks Balfour Beatty's entry into the water renewals sector in Australia and means that the Balfour Beatty Leed JV is now in line to bid for work packages worth approximately AUS$150 million (£91 million) in total over the next five years.

The Balfour Beatty Leed JV has been created to serve Sydney Water's specific network delivery needs and will concentrate on slip lining and pipe bursting services, using a number of techniques Balfour Beatty already employs extensively in the United Kingdom.

Balfour Beatty has joint ventured with Leed Engineering based on Leed's local presence in the water sector, their existing strong relationship with Parsons Brinckerhoff and an excellent capability fit based on the work to be undertaken.
