Truck mixer cleaning systems with high-pressure water

Thousands of concrete mixers are in operation daily. Especially during the warm periods of the year, deposits form in the mixer drum that quickly become hard and increase with each application. In this manner, tons of excess material travel on our roads that not only devour energy, but also block desperately required loading capacities. The Swabian company URACA provides an economic, environmentally-friendly and efficient solution. A high-pressure cleaning system comprising of a high-pressure pump unit, as well as a lance cleaning facility cleans the concrete truck mixer using high-pressure water, quicker, more effective and mush more reliably then can be carried out manually. This in total results in economic optimization.

The deposits carried can occasionally account for more than ten percent of the loading capacity of a truck mixer and, thus, 2 – 3 tons of unnecessary load. Therefore, a clean mixing drum not only results in significant savings in the consumption costs per vehicle, but also releases the deserately required loading capacity. From this point of view, some additional journeys could be saved. Independent of this, unintentional overloading of the vehicles can be prevented and the risk of tipping in a bend reduced. This actively increases safety on the roads.

Through the gentle cleaning using high-pressure water, damage and deformation of the auger is prevented and, thus, increases the service life of the complete drum. In addition, the mixing result is further optimized.

The cleaning system also provides safer and more humane working conditions, because up to present, the manual cleaning was very time consuming, arduous and hazardous. The personnel had to climb into the mixer to clean it and, in addition to enormous exposure to noise, also exposed to sharp edges of the auger and falling lumps of concrete. Through consequent separation of human and risk, cleaning the truck mixer can now be easily started from the outside. Because the process is quick and provides excellent results after a short period, in addition to the seasonal main cleaning, intermediate cleaning can also be carried out as required. Thus, the residual concrete can be flushed out before it sets. That is particularly advantageous on warm days. Using the cleaning system, the duration of cleaning is reduced from a complete days work to an hour, or a few minutes – depending on the degree of contamination.

The system comprises of a high-pressure pump unit, a tank washing head (TWK) rotating in two axes and an appropriate lance positioning device. The tank cleaning head is extended into the mixer by the positioning device and high-pressure water (approx. 160 kW) applied. The tank washing head rotates in two axes, whereby, the water jets depict spherical shapes and, thus, comprehensively cleans the complete interior.

In addition, a spray gun can be connected for external cleaning. As required, the operator can also revert to manual cleaning and, thus, efficiently clean the operating devices and mixer. The option to reuse the cleaning water to mix the concrete also actively contributes to environmental protection, as well as reducing the costs.
