Mott MacDonald first to achieve BS10500 anti-bribery certification

Mott MacDonald, the privately held management, engineering and development consultancy based in Croydon, UK, has become the first consultancy firm to achieve certification to the new anti-bribery management system standard, BS10500.

The award from Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance (LRQA), a leading accredited provider of management system certification, covers the consultancy's work in the transportation, energy, water, buildings, environment and industry sectors.

The BS10500 standard takes into account the requirements of the UK Bribery Act 2010, which became law in July 2011 and introduced anti-corruption laws which include the "failure of a commercial organisation to prevent bribery." The award gives additional confidence to Mott MacDonald's clients and stakeholders that effective robust anti-bribery management systems are in place and will be regularly audited by LRQA.

Mott MacDonald will be applying to extend BS10500 certification to the other sectors in which it operates by the end of 2013.
