Ramboll appoints new managing director for new business unit

Yaver Abidi (54) joined Ramboll as Managing Director for New Markets.

With the establishment of the New Markets business unit, one of Denmark's largest engineering consultancies, Ramboll is one step closer to executing on its Group Strategy and the ambition that a larger part of the company's future growth will take place outside Ramboll's home markets in the Nordics.

In 2012, Ramboll's turnover outside the Nordics constituted 20% of the total turnover of DKK 7.6 billion; the target is to grow this to 40-50% of the total turnover in 2016.

Yaver will assume responsibility for the main business lines and local units forming part of New Markets, which covers activities in regions outside Ramboll's home markets within Buildings, Transport and Environment. He will also take responsibility for the development of new services and sectors, incl. the Sustainable Cities initiative.

Today, Ramboll Middle East and Ramboll India are the main business units that make up New Markets. Our strategic goal is to develop our presence in these growth markets significantly, as well as expand into new regions, including Russia, South East Asia, North America and Africa.

From Middle East to North America

Yaver joins Ramboll from Halcrow and CH2M Hill, where he most recently held the position of Regional Managing Director for Middle East & Africa. Since starting his long, distinguished career at Halcrow in 1995, Yaver has held several senior positions within the company, including that of Group Board Director.

In his previous roles, he has been involved with corporate strategy, cross business optimisation, alliances and M&A activities. He has worked in North America, Europe, the Middle East, South Asia and Africa. In his new role at Ramboll, Yaver will be based in Dubai.
