Rising Stars of safety participate in National Safety Council event

Three AECOM employees who have received Rising Star Awards from the U.S. National Safety Council (NSC) in each of the past three years played prominent roles at the recent NSC Congress in Orlando, Florida, United States.

This year's event marked the 100-year anniversary of NSC, a nonprofit organization with a mission to save lives by preventing injuries and deaths at work, in homes and communities, and on the road through leadership, research, education and advocacy. Each year, the NSC identifies 40 "Rising Stars" based on their innovative safety practices, leadership and ability to transform their organization's safety culture.

At this year's event, Kris Brobst, safety, health & environment (SH&E) manager for AECOM's resources and industry business line, was recognized as one of the NSC's Rising Stars for 2012. Shelley Brown, SH&E regional manager, United States West region, presented a technical paper on career planning and advancement in the safety field. Brown, who received the Rising Star award in 2010, was also nominated to join the NSC's board of delegates earlier this year. Russ Reynolds, SH&E district manager, United States Southeast region, who was among the Rising Stars in 2011, participated in several technical sessions.

The NSC provides training, consulting and other safety-related services in more than 100 countries. An estimated six million lives have been saved since NSC's conception as a result of policies and initiatives the organization has led or supported.
