Bauer to execute foundation works for Laktha Tower in St. Petersburg

The Russian subsidiary of Bauer Spezialtiefbau GmbH was awarded the contract to execute the foundation works for the Lakhta Tower recently. The building will be constructed on the Baltic coast, in the Laktha district of the city of St. Petersburg. With a height of 460 metres, it will be the tallest building in Europe.

The foundation works involve sinking around 260 bored piles down to a depth of around 85 metres, with diameters of up to two metres. Two BG 40 and two BG 28 state-of-the-art Bauer drilling rigs will be used for this purpose.

The work is set to begin in December and is expected to last until the end of June 2013.
