Extreme Texture Coat

CertainTeed Gypsum is expanding its finishing products line to include Extreme Texture Coat — an interior wall texture that provides long-lasting durability and enhanced moisture and mold resistance. Extreme Texture Coat provides a complementary finish for high performance boards, such as AirRenew Extreme Abuse and AirRenew Extreme Impact Resistant, M2Tech moisture- and mold-resistant, and paperless glass-mat gypsum boards. The product is easy to apply and comes ready mixed, which saves valuable time in finishing interior walls and ceilings.

"Some spray-on textures do not have the durability and mold resistance needed for bustling commercial, healthcare and institutional settings," says Stephen Reynolds, marketing manager for CertainTeed Gypsum. "It can damage easily and is difficult to repair back to original condition. The stronger acrylic-based formula of Extreme Texture Coat, however, provides a lasting finish that will stand up to the everyday wear and tear in these interior environments."

Extreme Texture Coat is a bucket-ready, acrylic-based texture designed for use with conventional spray equipment on interior walls and ceilings to create a durable orange peel or knockdown textured surface. When tested according to ASTM 2486, the standard test method for scrub resistance of wall paints, Extreme Texture Coat performs better than high gloss acrylic latex coatings. The product also achieves the highest possible mold resistance score per ASTM D 3273.

"To obtain maximum resistance to everyday impact as well as moisture and mold in the substrate of a wall assembly, it is important to use a systems approach and combine high-performance gypsum boards with finishing products that provide the same protection," Reynolds adds. "Extreme Texture Coat is an ideal complement to glass-mat, abuse-resistant, and moisture- and mold-resistant gypsum boards, providing the aesthetic appeal of textured walls and lasting protection to the wall surface."
