BAM International to build new jetty in Sierra Leone

BAM International - the operating construction company of Royal BAM Group that is active outside Europe - has received a letter of acceptance from African Minerals Ltd for the design and construction of a fuel unloading and layover facility in Pepel, Sierra Leone. The value of the contract amounts to more than €13 million. BAM and joint venture partner Stefanutti Stocks expect to hand over the jetty to the client within five months.

The project comprises the construction of six mooring dolphins, four breasting dolphins with fenders, a concrete platform, 220-metre walkways and a 160-metre access bridge.

Construction of the new jetty will be part of the ongoing rehabilitation of the client's loading facility for iron ore. BAM recently completed another part of this rehabilitation, which comprised the renovation of an existing iron ore export jetty, the construction of two mooring dolphins and 37 new navigation aid structures in the Sierra Leone river.
