| Black & Veatch Foundation awards $200,000 grant to Kansas State University Black & Veatch, through its Building a World of Difference Foundation, is supporting research on solar-powered charging stations for electric and hybrid vehicles at Kansas State University. Cindy Wallis-Lage, President of Black & Veatch's global water business, announced the $200,000 award during a visit to the University's School of Engineering. This is the first award under the Black & Veatch Foundation's Kansas Education Grant Program launched in 2011. Citing innovation and education as the critical components for addressing long-term sustainable infrastructure needs, Black & Veatch committed $1 million to support research and development of clean energy, water and communications technology within the Kansas university system over the next decade. The KSU grant supports the creation of an on campus solar charging station for plug-in vehicles. Solar panels will be used to power the charging station, as well as provide shade and protection from severe weather.
