Arcadis wins a major metro extension project in Toulouse, France

Dutch engineering firm Arcadis (EURONEXT: ARCAD) announced that it has been awarded a contract to provide engineering, procurement and construction management services for the civil works on the extension of the line B of the Metro System in Toulouse, France. The project is a €12 million global contract (of which €8.2 million for Arcadis) for a 5 kilometers long extension, with 4.5 kilometers elevated on bridges and five aerial stations.

The project is part of the transportation development plan of the public transportation authority of the region of Toulouse, the Syndicat Mixte des Transports en Commun (SMTC) which will expand the current two line network of the subway to the south and to two big industrial zones. The cost estimate for the total expansion project is €168 million (excluding materials and equipment).

Among the specialties involved in the study are bridges, tunnels, soil mechanics, public roads and mobility studies. Arcadis will also be involved in the management of the interfaces with the transportation system and in getting the project approved by the environmental authorities.
