Visionstream secures Telstra Wideband contract

Visionstream Australia Pty Ltd, a subsidiary of Leighton Contractors, has signed a contract with Telstra for the provision of national Wideband and Dedicated Digital Network (DDN) works.

This significant contract is expected to be worth $120 million over three years with an optional two year extension and will see Visionstream integrating various Wideband, wireless LAN and DDN associated technologies within Telstra's Australian network.

Actioning in excess of 300 work orders per month, Visionstream has been installing pit and pipe, performing street and in-building cable hauls, installing racks of equipment in telephone exchanges and customers' premises, managing building owner access and permissions, council authorisations, and environmental and heritage searches.

The products delivered comprise all types of technologies with bandwidths commencing at two megabits per second, up to many gigabits per second. These products facilitate ISDN voice and data, and a range of other high-speed data applications. The technologies can utilise different communication protocols, such as SDH, PDH and IP to connect the customer's services to the greater telecommunications network.
