Port of Helsingborg is to be developed

The port of Helsingborg is going to be a modern and future-orientated container terminal capable of meeting the expected growth in volume over the coming 20 years. The project will be led by Ramboll.

The port of Helsingborg is currently facing major changes. Urban development is high on the agenda in the city, and an important part of this is rebuilding and developing the container port.

To solve this challenge, the city of Helsingborg carried out a design contest which was won by the proposal from Ramboll, Liljewall Architects and HPS Hamburg Port Consulting.

In recent years, the port of Helsingborg has grown rapidly and won new market shares. The port already faces capacity shortage and its core area of business, container handling, is expected to increase in volume by about five percent a year.

The development of the western port is essential in order to further streamline operations and offer improved customer service. The goal is to design a modern and future-orientated container terminal capable of meeting the expected growth in volume over the coming 20 years.

The prestigious contest initially attracted 14 candidates, of which four teams were selected to further develop their design proposals.

The project will be led by Ramboll in Sweden and will be initiated shortly.
