Arcadis announces new appointment

Arcadis' Paul Stephens has been appointed to the Professional Affairs Board for the Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors (IEHF).

Paul, who works within the Designs Solutions Practice and is discipline head for ergonomics at Arcadis, has been a member of the IEHF for 20 years. He has recently been involved with developing predictive work load for major re-signalling for Network Rail, and reducing the number of shutdowns at a processing facility in Mozambique.

The IEHF, which celebrated its 60th anniversary in 2009, is an international organisation whose main aim is to promote public awareness of ergonomics and its applications, and to provide educational material for students and teachers. It also runs Regional Groups and Special Interest Groups that promote ergonomics and human factors in localities and for specific applications.

The Professional Affairs Board sets criteria for certification and oversees arrangements for Continuing Professional Development, and is responsible for maintaining the professional standards of individual members and registered consultancies.
