Helen DeVos Children's Hospital certified LEED Gold

Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital was certified LEED Gold by the United States Green Building Council. Green features of the facility include a high-efficiency building envelope and heat recovery system, low-flow plumbing fixtures and high-performance irrigation systems, which save water, and lighting design and controls, which reduce energy use.

The 440,000-square-foot, 14-story children's hospital includes an expanded neonatal center with 40 private rooms, a 24-bed pediatric critical care unit, an emergency wing, a pediatric cardiac unit and a pediatric radiology department with advanced diagnostic imaging capabilities. The hospital also features large windows that highlight the region's natural beauty, a garden, play spaces and a chapel.

The hospital was recognized as the best healthcare project of 2011 by Engineering News-Record Midwest.
